ESXi Host Shutdown Procedure

Shutdown or suspend all VMs

Select the currently running machine/s and click suspend.

Put host into Maintenance Mode

Once the host is safely in Maintenance Mode you can shut the machine down.

This ends the shutdown procedure.

If you want to set a VM to boot up automatically when the host restarts, continue with the steps below.

Set Autostart Priority

If you want certain VMs to start automatically when the host is booted, right click on the VM and select” Autostart > Increase priority” from the menu.
